Hi! I’m Lindsay! I’m fairly typical, but as my husband tells me, I don’t like to do anything the “normal way”. I’m passionate about gentle parenting, list-making, coffee, and savasana. I love to blog about my life as a mom, and things like babywearing, breastfeeding advocacy, and my journey to being a more gentle and empathetic parent. I’ve been blessed by God with a platform in which to share my life, my experiences, my limited expertise, and mostly my lack thereof. I don’t share my thoughts, my opinions, and basically my whole life because I think I can change the minds of everyone who disagrees with me. I share these things because of those who can relate to me, and for those parents who are searching for someone who they can relate to. I pour my heart out in the hope that I can touch just one person in a way that makes them feel less alone, even if only for a moment. I know how it feels to feel alone, because I have been there. I have felt as though I was the only person in the world disillusioned with a lot of the “traditional parenting” advice I received. Here are some of the people who have inspired me, I hope I can inspire you too.
First are foremost, I am a follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I believe wholeheartedly that he is my “gentle parent” and he has called me to advocate for loving our children as he so selflessly loves us.
I met my now husband in 2007. At the time, our meeting felt like sheer dumb luck. Looking back, I know now that there really is someone for each of us in the world. Someone to make us stronger, better, and to teach us about love. God has a plan, and when He made Corey – I truly believe he was thinking of me. Corey is everything that I am not, he is strong where I am weak, he is the anchor that keeps my head from floating off into space. We are two very strong, very passionate, personalities. At times,
I honestly think we might kill each other I love him very much. Still, at the end of the day there is no question who is going to be by my side until the very end. There is nothing we can’t work through, no matter what. Read about our proposal!
cue sappy tears and harmonious “aww”
We have two smelly mutts. They were our first “babies” and an integral part of this family. Despite their affinity for underpants and wooden drawer pulls, we love them desperately. Bucky is a known troublemaker. He is always hording things in the farthest reaching spaces under the beds of our home, never to be seen again. He hates baths, and is very particular about where he potties. Follow his antics on Facebook! Miley is the princess, perfectly proper. Except when she sees a tennis ball, or someone knocks at the door. Then she loses all self control. She has just a bit of anxiety, but nothing a safe hiding place behind the toilet can’t fix.
I graduated with a degree in Kinesiology (it’s the science of movin’ and staying healthy!) and a Graduate Certificate in Public Health Epidemiology. I pretty much heart science. I share this with you, not because I think I know anything, but instead so you can understand my perspective. I spent a large chunk of my life living as a your typical college student. I came out of the whole ordeal alive. That is something to be proud of!
Our beautiful wedding day was one of the greatest days of my life. I married my best friend, and life-long companion. I love him so desperately, even when I hate him. Isn’t he handsome?
Our (first) greatest gift in life, was born in November of that very same year. Baby J is our joy, and the absolute love of our life. He truly redefined Thanksgiving!
Watching him grow gives new meaning to my life. He is so amazing. Being a mother is truly God’s greatest blessing.
AND THE GIFTS KEEP ON COMING! Less than two years later we welcomed the sweetest, most beautiful little girl into our amazing family. My sweet little bird.
So please, follow along with me on this adventure we are on. I am just learning as I go, and sharing these blessings with you!
