In the book Wherever the River Runs, Kelly Minter shares her inspirational journey through the Amazon jungle, and her experience learning and growing as a Christian.
I loved this book because of the way Kelly Minter related her trip down the Amazon to the work we can do here at home, in our own community. It’s easy to take a trip to a foreign land, serve for a short time, and then come back to the peace and safety of your own home. What is hard, is applying those same principals to the people who need us right here in our own backyard.
Loving the poor for a week at a time with your family and best friends on an exquisite adventure is rather different from slogging through the complexities and choices that surround the suffering and needy who dwell in your own community.

“Explore how a forgotten people can renew your hope of the gospel”
We are called as Christians to seek God first. Yet, we all desire earthly satisfaction through our own personal achievements. Consider this, if you first seek God, you might find that many of your earthly desires were actually very misguided. Through God all of your true wants and needs will be provided to you. Imagine letting go of all the burden and stress, and just living the life you were meant to live. Are you ready to give up what tastes good, in exchange for something that nourishes?
