When I got the opportunity to try out the Werther’s Chewy Caramels, I was super excited to
eat them cook with them. We are in the peek of apple season people, it’s the time of year for apple everything. While I still have plans to make all kinds of extravagent apple inspired deserts, I was craving something carmel apple-y late at night and an apple pie was just not an option. My husband was out of town, and there is just something a little bit sad about baking a pie for yourself. I said a LITTLE sad, I didn’t say I’m above it.
One day I will share with the world my famous caramels that made me the Reserve Grand Champion at the Dane County Fair in 6th grade. For now, I will just take this delicious short cut. Frankly, caramel making is a painstaking process. It can end very badly, but then again – quitters never win.
This quick dipping caramel sauce can be used for almost anything, but it should be eaten right away while it is still warm. It doesn’t harden back up into the perfect little candies they started out as (because of the cream) and it’s not really great reheated. Which is why the individually wrapped Werther’s Chewy Caramels are PERFECT because you only need to melt as many as you would like to eat (plus a few extra).
- 4 Werther's Original Chewy Caramels
- 1 tsp Vanilla Coffee Creamer
- Put the coffee creamer and caramels in a microwave safe bowl, microwave until creamy and smooth, mix every 15 seconds to prevent burning.
- This makes about one serving, you can alter the number of caramels and the amount of cream accordingly!
