I am so thrilled to team up with Auntie Anne’s and Alex’s Lemonade Stand! Alex Scott is an amazing inspiration. She started selling lemonade to raise money for her children’s hospital in an effort to help fight childhood cancer. Upon leaving the hospital shortly after her fourth birthday, Alex told her parents “when I get out of the hospital I want to have a lemonade stand.” She said she wanted to give the money to doctors to allow them to “help other kids, like they helped me.”. She tragically lost her own battle with cancer before the age of 8, but not before she could raise over $1 million to benefit childhood cancer research. She was a brave and inspiring girl, who will forever be remembered for the amazing things she did for other kids like her. I encourage you to watch the video below to learn more about the AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL Alex Scott.
Please take the time to read about what makes Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation different from other childhood cancer charities.
Allow me to introduce you to another “Mini But Mighty” hero of the week
Of all the trials and challenges that God gives us as parents, just imagine the worst, your child is diagnosed with cancer. Jacob was diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma. He received several rounds of chemotherapy, 9 hours of major surgery, a stem cell transplant, radiation, monoclonal antibody therapy and cis-retinoic acid (Accutane) over the course of 2 years. Jacob has been in remission for over 14 years. His only residual problem has been a hearing loss managed with the help of hearing aids. He gets yearly visits and blood counts with his oncologist, but otherwise leads a normal kid’s life. This is due to the excellent medical care received, the prayers and support of so many people, and to the research and care of the neuroblastoma team of doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Without amazing people like Alex Scott, and donors like you – Jacob might not have been so lucky.
You can join the fight against childhood cancer by supporting Jacob, the “Mini But Mighty” Hero of the Week, or any child suffering from this horrible disease.
